Please check whether you have the svx.datatype (yes, really “svx”, not “8svx”) installed. Unfortunately, this datatype is not compatible with the way how the 3.1.4 and also OS 3.9 sound datatype handles stereo data. Just remove it. 8svx will play stereo data perfectly fine now.
